I can just picture her sulking in her leopard-like coat....sitting like the old...well never mind.

This may have a strategic benefit in dealing with the media. Others who have been guilty of attempting to make political hay instead of actually seeking information may get the message.

The two questions she was going to ask have been answered and answered by Bush, she was seeking only to harm him.

Just curious... was she ever a capable professional? Has she just aged out into the angry ol' crazy aunt who nobody will tell that it is time to retire and find a hobby or was she always a preening, posing dimwit?

Helen Thomas has not earned the right to question President Bush. She is intellectually shallow and only has a job because the leftist establishment takes care of its intellectual mediocrities. It’s shocking to realize that her annual income is probably in the six figure range.

Knuck

It's funny but when I first saw her in a Whitehouse briefing shortly after 9/11 I was shocked. I remembered her so differently.

But now I can't remember what she was like decades ago! Joe says she was a bulldog and quite competent and is saddended at what she turned into.

Syl,

It is odd. I know she's been around forever. And it isn't like I've never watched presidential press conferences. But for the life of me I can't recall her before she went bonkers.

But then again, about the only one I can recall is Sam Donaldson.

Have a gander at this! The text around that photo at the sycophantic Donaldson bio piece where I found it seems to suggest that it is circa 1977. Think about that. Neither was a kid and that was 30 freakin' years ago (almost!). Don't these people EVER retire?

No. It's a kind of sinecure.

You may have inadvertently hit on something. Helen Thomas may be similar to the adolescent child who goes out of their way to attract attention. One is amply rewarded within leftist circles if they act the fool. Her career is definitely not hurt by unfairly attacking Republican presidents!

Knuckledhead: in the remote villages of Alaska, there routinely is one village "quack" who shows up to the corporate meetings (believe it or not they are "corporate" meetings)and almost always serves the same role as a court jester. Thomas has long played this role in press conferences, but it didn't recieve much notice until she wrapped herself in the moonbat mantle.

I like the whole "Doyen" moniker that seems to get assigned to the old witch.

Like, who made her that? Just more of the circle jerk that characterizes the media talking about itself.

It ain't about you, Helen.

Same in Massachusetts town meetings. There was one fellow, the guy who would ride his unicycle in town parades, who always had lots of ideas. After the town became an enclave of the wealthy I went back and sat in on one of the town meetings and this fellow was still there. His big idea at that time was to equip the small police force with Mercedes. Someone pointed out that that would make it impossible to distinquish the police cars from the other cars in town and the motion was dropped.
