Reid Must Resign

Mark Levin is not my favorite "conservative" pundit by far, but he's got this one right:

Reid announces to our brave volunteers that their country is sending them to a lost war. And he announces to our enemy that victory is within their reach — just keep up the killing a little longer. During my radio show last night, I received a call from a Gold Star father. He was outraged by Reid’s comment. He has called before and has become a good friend. But I’ve never heard him as angry and frustrated as he was last night.

Rather than join the chorus demanding Gonzales's resignation, let me be the first to demand Reid's resignation. And let's see how many pundits, conservative and otherwise, will join me.

All I can say is these people live in a vacuum. They must, how else can they say something that stupid? I agree, he should resign.

I just find it amazing how corrupted those Democrats, such as Reid, Pelosi, Feinstein, Carl Levin, Schumer, Rockefeller, Waxman, Jefferson, et al, and they still go after Gonzales who did nothing illegal and corrupted but was severely criticized for his macro-management style.

There's nothing balanced in them thare!

Today's lily-livered belly crawling by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Caesar's Palace, 95%), flatly announcing that "this war is lost," should disqualify him from the "leadership" position he now occupies, say I... since he is no longer leading but deserting.

Reid triumphally pronounced defeat in a press conference he called shortly after leaving the White House and his discussion with President Bush. Reid particularly singled out the counterinsurgency strategy -- which of course he belittled as "the surge" -- as having been an abject failure... because there were some big bombings yesterday:

"Now I believe myself ... that this war is lost, and that the surge is not accomplishing anything, as indicated by the extreme violence in Iraq yesterday," said Reid, of Nevada....

Lurker..

I find it going after Gonzo equally amazing until you realize just how vicious the Democrats are. They held sway for 40 years before Newt destroyed them.

But what I see that I don't understand is Geo Bush's lack of anger. These firings are his preogative TOTALLY. It would be damn nice to see him get really pissed off and tell the Democrats that no one in his administration is going to go to the Hill to testify on something that is totally a Presidential preogative.

Gonzales is guilty of not leaving no possible room for scalp-hunting crooks to accuse him of responding poorly to their false accusations.

Schumer has actually said, in so many words, that his failure to finds anything incriminating in the 3000 emails is evidence that "something is being hidden".

Kafka would be proud. Me, I'm waiting for the call to arms.

also from the Big Lizard piece (which is good)

"Pinky" Reid is the Director, from C.S. Lewis's seiminal novel That Hideous Strength, the third of his Perelandra series: the man who was never quite awake yet never entirely asleep, never found in broad sunlight nor yet in starry night; always betwixt and between, never actually deciding anything -- but ruling N.I.C.E. (the National Institute of Coordinated Experiments) as a perpetually ambiguous demonstration of the philosophy of perpetual twilight.

Buddy,
You are so right..it is Kafkaesque with a side order of Frederico Fellini's Juliet of the Spirits

Charles Schumer. The King of the Unctuous Hypocrites

"Unctuous" buttery: unpleasantly and excessively suave or ingratiating in manner or speech; "buttery praise"; "gave him a fulsome introduction"; "an oily sycophantic press agent"; "oleaginous hypocrisy"; "smarmy self-importance"; "the unctuous Uriah Heep"; "soapy compliments"--characterized by affected, exaggerated, or insincere earnestness.

Oh yeah, nail on head. Same with Pinky Reid, especially "N.I.C.E.".

How like the equally unctuous previous several Dem senate leaders, tom whazzizname and George Mitchell. Speak softly and affect mild temperament, whilst the work of your words slashes and burns the world to red & black cinders.

Iago. From Shakespeare. The ultimate villain. Whispering in the ear. Or in the microphone whichever.

So, it is Reid's contention that a bad day is a sure sign of failure. And if we high tail it out of there and there are many more bad days because of our surrender, how will he view that?

he will whisper
"Bush"

"Let that sink in for a moment."

The foe we face in radical Islam is, though not a nation state, every bit as much an existential threat to us and Western Civilization as Nazi Germany. We are one dirty bomb on Wall Street away from a recession or possibly even a depression. We are one nuclear explosion in a port city away from much, much worse. As Give 'Em Hell Harry's predecessor, FDR told the nation on December 9, 1941 -

"the United States can accept no result save victory, final and complete," against such an existential foe, else we would be living in a world without "security for any nation-or any individual . . ."
Give 'Em Surrender Harry apparently missed that speech on American values and resolve.

American Thinker piece ..good

From Betsys :

Unfortunately for Senator Reid, he earlier revealed his real interst in this entire debate and also has demonstrated his lack of political acumen by bragging publicly how opposition to the Iraq War will help Democrats in the 2008 elections so perhaps he thinks that there is some political benefit for trumpeting defeat. He and Senator Schumer were out a week ago bragging about how much defeat in Iraq was helping the Democratic Party.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday he plans to continue an aggressive push for an early withdrawal from Iraq and does not particularly care that Republicans will try to paint that position as a lack of support for U.S. forces.

Why? Because “We are going to pick up Senate seats as a result of this war,” the Nevada Democrat predicted at a news conference.

Sitting next to him was the man charged with making that happen: Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee Chairman Charles E. Schumer of New York.

“The war in Iraq is a lead weight attached to their ankle,” Schumer warned, predicting that congressional Democrats will pick up additional Republican votes for Democratic initiatives as the 2008 elections approach.

“We will break them, because they are looking extinction in the eye,” Schumer declared, making no attempt to hide his glee.

So, if they have this gleeful attitude towards the political benefits they'll gain from a defeat in Iraq, is it any surprise to see Harry Reid out there proclaiming the war is lost? If defeat provides votes for his party, does Reid have any honest interest in an American victory? I guess not.

They can hardly sink any lower. If this gets them more seats, or the White House, then America has truly turned a corner, and we're in deep doo-doo on every front, on every issue.

If then Majority Leader Trent Lott had to resign for statements that were unacceptable, Harry Reid should be forced to resign for his unforgiveable comments regarding the war! Pigs fly and hell freezes over will be the headlines before the media recognizes and supports this policy of equal treatment!
