Sorry, it just seemed like an avant garde slasher movie to me.

I liked The Searchers, Braveheart, The Fisher King and Sense and Sensibility. My favorite old movie is Vertigo.

I like the Passion of Christ too and I was sure I would not.

I would like to see Walk the Line.terryehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16609746018265953069noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16821859.post-1141145437163440512006-02-28T09:50:00.000-07:002006-02-28T09:50:00.000-07:00rick—My editor (besides doing an excellent job in ...rick—

My editor (besides doing an excellent job in that role) is trying to get me to commit to doing something movie-related on a weekly basis. I'm doing my best to remain non-commital, but...

A Clockwork Orange is one of my editor's favorite movies. It says so in his Blogger profile. I thought thirty years ago that it was a brilliantly constructed and deeply disturbing adaptation of a great book. Now I find it less emotionally involving and very much a product of the times in which it was made. Nonetheless, it remains a great movie. Highly recommended.

The AAs cause me to focus one last time on what I saw during the previous year and sometimes someone (e.g., Sidney Poitier four years ago) says something worth hearing:

Therefore, with respect, I share this great honor with the late Joe Mankiewicz, the late Richard Brooks, the late Ralph Nelson, the late Darryl Zanuck, the late Stanely Kramer, the Mirish brothers, especially Walter, whose friendship lies at the very heart of this moment, Guy Green, Norman Jewison, and all the others who have had a hand in altering the odds, for me and for others.

I hope that those of you who take the time to watch one or more of the movies I like will feel that you got a decent return on your investment in time and money.

Best,

Pat

(Thanks, MHA.)lonerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13329414340481290010noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16821859.post-1141140226656968982006-02-28T08:23:00.000-07:002006-02-28T08:23:00.000-07:00The problem is that "Groundhog Day" keeps showing ...The problem is that "Groundhog Day" keeps showing up on lists....Charlie Martinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14586506407851173416noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16821859.post-1141111002880034422006-02-28T00:16:00.000-07:002006-02-28T00:16:00.000-07:00Clockwork Orange still scares me.The producer of O...Clockwork Orange still scares me.
The producer of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest says the older he gets the more he finds Nurse Ratched a sympatheitv character..me, too. I now have a list of unseens worth tracking down.

I understand the chronological aspect but when I saw 'Kiss of the Spider Woman', I immediately thought of 'Blue Velvet' and then 'The Crying Game'.

I've still never seen Clockwork Orange for some reason, perhaps the descriptions of the dystopic view have thrown me off.

I hope that you join us and make this a feature on more than an Oscars basis.
