From Omar at Iraq The Model, "Help" Is On the Way...

Over at Iraq the Model Omar writes that just as things are starting to look up ever so slightly in the Iraq theatre of the war against Islamofascism, and on the eve of the referendum on the new Iraqi constitution, the Arab League decides it would like to help the various Iraqi factions achieve "reconciliation":

The league of Arab tyrants, er I mean countries has sent delegates to Iraq to prepare for the expected visit of the secretary general of the league Amr Mousa. The announced purpose of the Mousa’s visit is to arrange for a national “reconciliation” conference supposedly in order to bridge the gap between different factions of Iraqi community.

And while they're at it, why not pay a visit to Saddam in jail?

However, Iraqi MP Jawad Al-Maliki the 2nd man in Jafari’s Dawa party said that news has leaked telling that Mousa put paying Saddam Hussein a visit in his jail on the schedule of his visit to Iraq. Al-Mailiki added that this visit to Saddam would aim at including Saddam and the Ba’ath in the “reconciliation” plan and Al-Maliki said that his bloc would probably be calling for a vote in the parliament to stop Mousa from coming to Iraq..!!

If I knew the Arab League were on its way to "help" me, I'd oil my weapon.

Omar needs to start referring to Syria as the 19th governate and Iran as the 20th. Or maybe discussing the advisability of allowing the Wahabis to remain in Mecca or Medina.

The BBC piece is as big a piece of fluff as I've seen. It really doesn't appear (from the article) that any Iraqis asked for a visit from the Tyrants League and it deosn't appear that any government officials are particularly anxious to meet the Tyrant's reps. Plus there is no schedule given, period.

I suppose that the BBC feels some need to keep up with the NYT in terms of anti-American propaganda.

It appears that the Arab League representatives received a very warm welcome in Baghdad.

It also seems that they need to see Saddam very soon if they wish to speak to him.

The Arab League always reminds me of some crime family.

I wonder how long Saddam would last if they just turned him loose.
