The sensible constitutional scholars all agree that the Constitution grants special powers to the president during war time. The first and foremost important duty of our elected national leader is to protect the citizens. All of their other responsibilities are at best a distant second.
The real problem is that the leaders of the Democratic Party don’t believe we are in a war. Noam Chomsky and Edward Said are the intellectual lights of today’s national Democrats. A threat really doesn’t exist. Those who might wish us harm are victims of our foreign policy mistakes. They just require a little love and understanding---and by tomorrow morning will be singing Kumbaya. And no, I am not indulging in hyperbole. It's as simple as that.
"They just require a little love and understanding---and by tomorrow morning will be singing Kumbaya" --- Dr. Strangelove, the Sequel would be a whole new movie.
'Special Needs' What we especially need now is legislation calling for the imprisonment of EDITORS AND REPORTERS who publish National Security Secrets.
When I first heard this I thought it was a joke or a hoax or something. I mean come on, testing for radiation is not exactly a strip search. Has anyone been inconvenienced in anyway?
I think the reasoning goes like this. Democrats care about the little guy, Republicans are evil. Therefore, if Democrats were in charge of searches for radiation they would make sure that little guys weren't harmed. Republicans are doing it to increase their profit margins. So they can't be trusted. And it's the duty of any good journalist to speak truth to power.
I think there's something else going on on a deeper level. Many of those people have convinced themselves that Republicans truly are the enemy. They have dehumanized the Republicans, in much the same way that many Europeans are dehumanizing Americans, and that Germans dehumanized Jews, etc.
