I get this vision of Blanco and staffers pouring over LL Bean catalogs and having their orders fedexed to them so they could "roll up their sleeves". Can't you just see them running around stomping on one another's new work boots and waders to scuff them up? New sneakers! New sneakers!
Blanco turned over everything to clear the air. I'm taking bets on when we'll see the same out of the Bush admin. Put me down for are you kidding? When have they ever come clean about anything? But never let it be said they miss an opportunity to try to make an opponent look bad. You guys don't really want to have this discussion again do you? Oh well.
Mark--do you just might think that the White House has all the tapes and transcripts of the phone calls and correspondence between the Gov and the President--and the Gov knows whats in those transcripts? and for the record, idiot, the FEMA emails were released a month ago--do you have any clue at all? Blanco and her staff, along with that idiot mayor are in it up to their sorry butts, and they know whats out there.
Maybe, unless the hearings are about a bunch of politicians preening etc.
I grew up in Oklahoma and we get some bad weather out there. I have seen entire towns obliterated by tornadoes.
I know Katrina was huge, but anyone who has ever lived anywhere that is prone to natural diasters knows the locals have to have it together. They are the ones who are there on the scene after all.
Besides our constitution is written in such a way that is very difficult for a president to assume authority over the domestic situation in a state. That is the Governor's job, that is why they are elected.
Our constitution may be written in such a way that is very difficult for a president to assume authority over the domestic situation in a state but that didn't stop Bush from trying from the gitgo, and then stonewalling the Governor.
