Politics and War

It is getting harder and harder to tell the enemy and the loyal opposition apart:

In my response to these fallacies, I say: The war in Iraq is raging and operations in Afghanistan are on the rise in our favour, praise be to God. The Pentagon figures indicate the rise in the number of your dead and wounded, let alone the huge material losses.

To go back to where I started, I say that the results of the poll satisfy sane people and that Bush's objection to them is false.

Reality testifies that the war against America and its allies has not remained confined to Iraq, as he claims. In fact, Iraq has become a point of attraction and recruitment of qualified resources

Believe it or not these words were spoken by Osama Bin Laden, not Nancy Pelosi.

It's funny how Osama (or Pelosi for that matter) states things in such peculiar ways as to bend what Bush has said all along. Bush has never said the war was confined to Iraq, but that Iraq was part of the War on Terror, not the entirety of such a war. Preparing for operations but offering a truce? That is right from the DNC playbook (or see the earlier thread on Harry Reid and Las Vegas).

"Believe it or not these words were spoken by Osama Bin Laden, not Nancy Pelosi."

But you can't prove she didn't write them for him.

Sounds just like mark, doesn't it?

Has anyone ever seen mark and OBL together?

If Saddam was running this country, yessir would be nossir.

Y'know, now that you mention it I have to admit....

buddy larsen said...

If he REALLY wanted credibility, instead of vague hints about a Pentagon background, he'd say he is Dwight D. Eisenhower, and that he 'ran D-Day'. THAT'd make 'em sit up and take notice!

Anonymous said...

I suppose that if Yessir really meant that he could strap a bomb on himself and take one for the team.

moron

Yep, Iraq is full of people yearning for the good ol' days of Saddam and his dictatorship and who think it is really great the way these Yemeni and Jordanian homicidal maniacs come into their country and target civilians. No doubt they are hoping the US gets its ass whipped so that someone like Zaarqawi will be calling the shots. We all know a freaking humanitarian he is.

They may be smarter than that--they know that losing the war means no more than depression, tawdry infrastructure, poverty, disorder, arbitrary laws, weakened Constitution, official corruption, extortion, crime, and misery. In other words, everybody will be like them, what's not to like?

buddy larsen said...

All that dhimmitude will likely mean in their lifetime, that is. Worse later, but not for 20-40 years, so why sweat it?

buddy larsen said...

No, I was speaking as one of the give-uppers.

Nah, America couldn't take dhimmi--it would break up--as bin Laden threatened.

buddy larsen said...

But not so long as we got George "Give Me a Libriarian or Give Me Death" Bush!

The lovely Miss Laura, liberrian by trade.

The Dems should hold their convention is Waziristan--damn good idee, Peter!

buddy larsen said...

What's the diff between a hash-head thinking and Dem leader thinking? None that I could imagine. On to Wazi-Land!

The best line from the tirade:

Hey, maybe the translator made it all up and he really said 'Belefonte has no bananas'.

JACK CAFFERTY IN THE 'RUBBER ROOM' [John Podhoretz]
Hugh Hewitt recommends changing the name of CNN's "Situation Room" to a title more appropriate for a mental institution on account of the latest nutsy ramble by its "I'm just an old newsman who's seen it all" commentator Jack Cafferty: "The last time we got a tape from Osama bin Laden was right before the 2004 presidential election. Now here we are four days away from hearings starting in Washington into the wire tapping of America's telephones without bothering to get a court order or a warrant, and up pops another tape from Osama bin Laden. Coincidence? Who knows." Hugh's got more Cafferty craziness here.

IOW, guys n' gals, our pres and bin Laden are allies, in a war against (who else could it be?) 'Liberals', according to this 'veteran newsman' who's 'seen it all'.

Stuck, stuck, stuck on stupid, stupid, stupid.

Do ya see--I'm sure you do--the proof for the need to surrender?

1) OBL disses GWB in order to rally APE (American PEople) to GWB.
2) So, the only way APE can fight OBL is to dump GWB.
3) So, OBL can only be defeated by surrendering to him!

Easy as 1-2-3! Dunno why i dint never see it befo!

In the movie "Little Big Man" Custer is surveying the distant Valley of the Little Bighorn. He calls for one of his mule skinners (Little Big man) to come forward. He asks the muleskinner (I paraphrase all this), "Should I go down there?'

Muleskinner: "No, there's thousands of Cheyenne and Sioux warriors down there. We'll all be killed."

Custer: "Aha, since you hate me, you WANT me to think that you mean the opposite of what you say! Therefore, when you say not to go, you want me to think you REALLY mean not to go, therefore, WE SHALL GO! Bugler, Blow the ATTACK!"

Custer, of course, was well-known as a Democratic activist (really, no joke).

Syl said...

Sheesh.

Can Cafferty then think of an explanation why OBL didn't show up just after Katrina?

If ever Bush needed some help, it was then.

buddy larsen said...

When the war-outcome is uncertain, attack your own leader. That'll dispose of that unsettling uncertainty.

I think we all know that the French will pass directly from passivism to savagry, without a moment's pause between. For the same reason, the cities of Islam are lucky for Florida 2000. Al Gore has much more 'red-button' in him than does GWB.

buddy and Peter:

I agree with both of you young men. And will continue to do so until I seem some really stupid puns up here in which case I will go Hillary on you both.

You have been warned.

buddy larsen said...

You better be listening, Peter-the-Instigator.

buddy larsen said...

Lucky you stuck that that last one in quick-like, Peter, my monitor was starting to whimper.

buddy larsen said...

Mine heard the word Hillary and started burning it's files. It also ran outside, hopped in the Citroen hidden under the haystack, saluted, and lit out for the Pyrenees, with a bren gun sticking out the window.

I think the interpretor missed a little, the threat of the use of force de frappucino didn't come accross as weakly as intended.

The makts do not like the Iran situation--the news that the Iran gov't is clearing its deposits out of European banks--in light of their plan to trade in Euros as of March-something--set the sell signals off all over the place. Oil holdings were way up, all else way down. well, after-mkt Treasuries did okay--anything with a higher rate. but, there was no flight-to-quality in them. Where will Iran put its reserves? Even gold was down--but from hyper-lofty recent heights. Gets too crazy, the USAAF may have to come in and calm things down. Can't let Ahchamanijadeddad cause a global crisis.

buddy larsen said...

Largest one-day loss since April 2003--so much for bin Laden's remark about "merchants of war".

I hope the Force de Frappe flies better than the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle floats.

I think Greenpeace made 'em quit testing, so if the damn things misfire, I hope they at least land on the caribous.

I have no class. None. I do not even believe in class.

I also have a number of clients who have problems with continence. I hope to God you guys are not that far gone.

buddy larsen said...

No, never, i like all continence--NorthAmerica especially, but the others are great, too.

Had the same thought--but the Yuan is still about 85% dollar-denominated, so that wouldn't add up, if Ahitlermanijad wants to crash the dollar. I'll ask my broker tomorrow--he's got some old pals at Oppenheimer and Goldman Sachs--they'll have some ideas. Funny thing, all the world's major markets--Asia, LatinAmerica, Europe, Japan, have been selling off for two or three days now--esp today, but Russia has been going straight up. Parabolic, 3, 6, 8% per DAY. This tidbit is useless without some idea of the volumes and amounts of capital flow--but, without digging into it, Russia would be a good bet.

buddy larsen said...

...course, whether a country imports or exports petro covers the game pretty well, but the financial people figure Russia and Iran both have $100/bbl target. Ancient czarist dreams and the caliphate both, perhaps without firing a shot.
