Sarkozy's Get Tough Policy just recruiting more thugs

The Telegraph (ht: Brussels Journal) reports "violent clashes injuring an average of 14 officers each day" in France's troubled "housing estates".

...nearly 2,500 officers had been wounded this year... by unemployed youths of north African origin...

The number of attacks has risen by a third in two years. Police representatives told the newspaper Le Figaro that the "taboo" of attacking officers on patrol has been broken...

...aggressive raids were "disrupting the underground economy in the estates", one senior official told Le Figaro...

...You no longer see two or three youths confronting police, you see whole tower blocks emptying into the streets to set their 'comrades' free when they are arrested... crowds of hundreds of people who are trying to kill police and burn their vehicles...

Mayors in the worst affected suburbs, which saw weeks of riots and car-burning a year ago, have expressed fears of a vicious circle, as attacks by locals lead the police to harden their tactics, further increasing resentment...

The mayor of Les Mureaux, Francois Garay, criticised aggressive police tactics that afterwards left "the people on the ground to pick up the pieces.
Surely this was predictable after seeing what the Failed Policies of the Bush Administration (tm) have wrought. This preposterous insistence on resistance to the understandable frustration caused by Imperialist Repression does nothing but recruit yet more people into the Tiny Fringe (tm) who would otherwise represent nothing more than a Manageable Problem (tm).

  1. I thought their major complaint was that there was simply not enough time devoted to the Congressman Foley story. Inquiring minds want to know.

  2. 130 assaults on garbage collectors in Paris this year; they now need police escorts in certain neighborhoods. Why don't they just let the garbage pile up?

A friend of mine saw a woman defecating on the street the other day. It's the druggie part of town, but still, he shouted at her to have some respect. But he says everyone stared at him as if he were the bad person. When the liberal state frees everyone of personal responsibilities and attachments, and gives them freedom (tm), the only meaningful relationship left is victimhood - my friend should have offered the lady tp and counselling. Likewise, the French should continue to provide services to the poor downtrodden in the banlieus. What else can they do, but change the state at its very core?
