  1. I'm really disappointed in the velociraptor. Just a big mean chicken.

  2. Rick,

Take what you can get -- at least we don't have to endure another giant coo-coo clock picture. ;)

  3. Ambi,

True, but it screws up a recurrent daydream involving the appearance of a pack of velociraptors onstage at the Dem convention during the acceptance spee... well, it's just a daydream.

  4. Just a big mean chicken.

Don't underestimate big mean chickens. When they drive those spurs into your back you definitely notice.

  5. Speaking of pirates (OK, we were actually talking about giant chickens, but that's besides the point), from time to time I check out the Weekly Piracy Report. It always makes for some interesting reading.

EagleSpeak and Fred Fry International are good for lots of current maritime stuff, including frequent piracy news roundups.

  7. And a beautiful map, MHA. While it is way too expensive for this kid to subscribe, any good university library should have Imago Mundi, a journal of cartographic history. Even though some articles in recent years are sprinkled with a bit of PC dust, many of the earlier articles are great.

  8. Hey, what's wrong with the coo-coo clock? I need better guidance from my users. :-) Exactly which classes of pictures do we approve of and which do we wish to remove?

  9. Apples are back in season and my car radio tells me the name of the song and the "artist" singing it—most days. MHA's profile picture doesn't load, but otherwise I'm good.

    Or is it cuckoo clock?
