Snowball fights

This post is for my northern visitors. Apparently, when it is cold enough outside to have that disgusting form of water known as snow littering the ground, they'll go out and bean each other with balls made from the snow. Sounds completely daft to me, but I guess we have to respect the traditions of primitive tribes. So, enjoy these paintings of the snowball fighting ceremony so popular in the frigid lands. 

Snowscapes

These are paintings that show snow covered landscapes. I hate snow and cold, hence my move south many years ago. So, rather than being the serene snowscapes implied by the post's title, I consider them to be hellscapes. I get the heebie-jeebies just looking at them. 

For those of you northerners who claim to enjoy the stuff, you can admire this artwork when you take breaks from shoveling your sidewalks.

 A Snowy Morning - Shin Kyung-rim

“Good morning.
Today of all days, the flurries are cold.”
“How are you going to stand this winter?”
“Will you bloom again next year?”

The old trees say this to the old trees,
the forsaken people say this to the forsaken people,
coughing and shaking off the snow.

 

Snow Art

Walking 7 to 9 hours a day the French artist Simon Beck creates his art by imprinting geometric design in the snow. As you can see he does it on a very large scale. The intricate works can take so long that he needs to rework them, or abandon them altogether, as new snow falls.
