Yeeps!

I almost lost the blog screwing around with the templates. Unfortunately, I did lose our links list, so I'm going to have to rebuild that -- I'm open to sites we should link to. I'll have to add some widgets and what-not to the side bar.

ETA: Whew, I got the contributors, sitemeter and the flags back. I was in a panic there for a while. When I blew the blog up I just about had a heart attack. Mrs. Sinistral was wondering why I was laying on the floor in a fetal position, whimpering and sucking my thumb.

Anyhoo... how's it look?

Vista SP2 and IE8. Looks pretty good, I like it. I'm ignorant on the proper terms but it does need adjustment of frames(?) and text therein, but in the header only. All else looks okay.

Yea, I noticed that in IE the words were a bit high in the menu bar just under the title. I'll try to fix it tomorrow.

What's nice is we can now have jumps in articles, so longer articles can be posted.

Well, good job. And to say again, I do like the look and colors.

Looks nice. Guess you didn't keep a copy of the old template around before the changes, eh? IIRC, there was a button for that or something like that.

I like the changes. A tweak here and there and it should look quite nice,Looks great on our ancient computer.

Thanks guys.

Chuck -- yea, I thought I saved it, but... "measure once, cut twice".

Anybody have links for the BlogRoll? I know I'm missing a ton of them.

I like the new look. Now all we need is time to post more. Life took a couple time-consuming turns for me.

Looks fine in Firefox 3.5.3.

looks great in safari whatever.whoknows.

Some sites (and URLs) I poke at daily (or nearly so):

Maggie's Farm:
http://maggiesfarm.anotherdotcom.com/

Chicago Boyz:
http://chicagoboyz.net/

Jim Miller on Politics:
http://www.seanet.com/~jimxc/Politics/

Coyote Blog:
http://www.coyoteblog.com/

And a not so daily one (weekly, every other week - doesn't change enough for daily), Arts & Letters Daily:
http://www.aldaily.com/

There's more but I'm lazy.

BTW, Ambi, thanks for keeping the embers going here at Flares.

An interesting site I suggest visiting when one has time to watch something different and generally rewarding:

D'oh, how could I forget Chicago Boyz? It was the first blog I ever bookmarked. Maggie's Farm and Jim Miller were two others I had been trying to remember. Seems like there's a Don Stuber, or something like that, that I'm also missing.

As for keeping the place alive... I actually first got the scheme to redo the template because I wanted to post a poll, but the old one couldn't handle poll widgets.

'Course now I don't remember what poll I wanted to post, but if another one ever comes to me I'm ready.

Is this kind of like Jay Leno's new set? LOL. Looks good.

I have some eclectic ones that are pretty good. Of course everyone's tastes and interests are so different. You could vet them though, that wouldn't bother me.

Ha... I was going to say I could put them up myself but it seems as if I can no longer log in to post. Oh well.

How does on log in to post?

ambisinistral said...

Knuck,

Log into your Google account. From there select 'settings' and there then should be an option to go to Blogger, where you can create a new post

Barry,

You have been able to log in. However, for some reason you only had Author privilege. I bumped you up to admin, so you should be able to add links now.

Er.. I meant Luther, not Barry.

Eeesh, my post to Luther made no sense. It should have read...
