Mirabile Dictu -- WAPO Channels Flares' May 31 Post

From an editorial in this morning's WAPO:

Eighteen American soldiers died in May, the lowest total of the war and an 86 percent drop from the 126 who died in May 2007.

But WAPO's spin moves in the direction Barry Dauphin predicted at 10:15 last night:

If the positive trends continue, proponents of withdrawing most U.S. troops, such as Mr. Obama, might be able to responsibly carry out further pullouts next year. Still, the likely Democratic nominee needs a plan for Iraq based on sustaining an improving situation, rather than abandoning a failed enterprise. That will mean tying withdrawals to the evolution of the Iraqi army and government, rather than an arbitrary timetable; Iraq's 2009 elections will be crucial. It also should mean providing enough troops and air power to continue backing up Iraqi army operations such as those in Basra and Sadr City. When Mr. Obama floated his strategy for Iraq last year, the United States appeared doomed to defeat. Now he needs a plan for success.

We're inside their OODA Loop, Barry.

"Now he needs a plan for success."

First he has to find a new church and then he has to plan on how to beat Patrick Fitzgerald in '12 if he wants to hang on to his phoney baloney job.

'Course if Fitz locks him up for Rezko related crimes, that last part will be moot.

And when Scary Larry gets through with him......

Fitz will be transformed into a Republican stooge in the pay of corporations. It's bound to be a magical moment.

President Obama: Once I saw the failed strategy of Bushitlercheney, I knew America and Iraq needed a change. I wanted to talk to Sadr, but I see he's already in jail. So instead I talked with Maliki. And today, we celebrate a free and democratic Iraq. After I finish throwing Rezko under the bus....uh I mean testifying in his trial, I will join my good friends Joe Biden and Chuck Schumer, who always predicted Iraq would become a beacon of democracy in the Middle East, in congratulating ourselves on bringing peace so quickly. Thank you and God damn....I mean God bless America.

President Obama: I'd like to introduce my Communications Chief, Scott McClellan. Scott, could you say a few words?

Scotty: Yes. I didn't realize that the military mission called Operation Iraqi Freedom had anything to do with democracy and stuff.

President Obama: Need we say more!
