Surgeon says demise of hymen restoration operations no skin off his, er... nose? - MSN-Mainichi Daily News: "Japan's top hymen restoration clinic was once busy when it was a common procedure at a time chastity was given greater credence in society than it is now, but it hasn't performed the operation in about 20 years, according to Shukan Bunshun (12/7).

'They certainly still offer hymen restorations, but nobody does them nowadays. That Dr. (Katsuya) Takasu (famous for performing the procedure) said he hasn't done one of the ops for 20 years. And the last person he did it for was (porn actress) Kyoko Aizome,' a medical industry insider tells Shukan Bunshun.

Takasu, operator of the Takasu Clinic chain of cosmetic surgeries, confirms the rumor.

'I can't remember doing one during the (18-year) reign of the current Emperor,' he tells Shukan Bunshun. 'I'd guess it's been 20 years since I did a restoration. And Aizome? Yes, I did operate on her. She said she wanted it done because one of her directors wanted to film what it was like when it was broken.'"
