Above is an aerial shot of the USS Iowa firing its main batteries during a gunnery exercise. You can clearly see the shock waves from the 15 inch guns in the water. I wonder how far the boat got pushed to port by the firing?

I think I read somewhere that it was like 3 feet laterally.
Here is a link to an article that claims there is no lateral movement from firing a broadside of all guns:
