Kim il Dud?

Drudge has a banner up linking to this AP piece. Being AP there is obviously a credibility problem with the report but Bill Gertz of the Washington Times is also reporting that Kim may be shooting blanks.

I wonder if that will queer Kim's deal with Ahmanutter? One explanation for Kim's histrionics since the failure to launch of his No Dong in July is that he has a performance based contract with the Iranian's tied to a successfully completed total nuclear experience. I'm not sure that we should be terribly worried about a little fella with some serious performance issues. Perhaps the guys who named the misile were trying to send Dear Leader a message?

I still say he should be castrated for his crimes! Death would be too good for him!

I don't know, it does not seem that most people in the MSM are taking this view, but they are slow.

There is something pathetic about being such an inept villain.

Shootin' blanks, is he? Well, next time I take part in the life boat scenario I'll remember to make an effort to convince the females that he ain't worth dragging along.

I hate to sound like a conspiracy-believing moonbat, but what the heck ...

Could it be that the Bush Administration doesn't want people to believe that the test was a success?

The American government is the only country in the world, thus far, to be proposing the idea.

And, besides, the comparatively small explosion may indicate it was a suitcase nuke, couldn't it?

pastorius,

I think it more likely it was a dud. If it was a plutonium based device getting the thing to detonate effectively requires precise timing and precision formed explosives, things that may be a bit beyond NK at the moment. Uranium gun type bombs are much easier once the U-235 is available, but getting the pure U-235 is more difficult than getting the plutonium. Decisions, decisions.

Well, certainly, I am no expert. I tried building a nuclear bomb one time. I couldn't get the damn thing to work.

So after the No Dong, the No Bang?

"And, besides, the comparatively small explosion may indicate it was a suitcase nuke, couldn't it?"

They have a SUITCASE?

Ok, I've got some questions? Has Russia backed off their initially high estimates of the size of the explosion? If not, then why would Russia be estimating the size higher than the U.S.?
