Pakistan

I have said before that Pakistan is the true center of the Jihadists. Saudi Arabia provides the funds, but Pakistan is the HQ and one suspects the ISI is muchly on the side of the Taliban, helping bring them to power in Afghanistan in the first place. So, while it is said that terrorism is stateless, I don't think that is strictly true, they have Pakistan and are working to take over the Northwest Frontier Province. Now there might be an upside to having Al-Qaeda and the Taliban in their own state, for such a state can be attacked. But only if it separates from Pakistan completely, indeed, only if it comes into conflict with the other parts of Pakistan, for only so can we attack without precipitating a larger conflict.

This is all to introduce Bill Roggio's latest post on Pakistan, I hope you all are paying attention. And I do wonder what contingency plans the US has if Pakistan should come apart or fall into civil war. I don't see much discussion of that possibility on the net, and yet that is surely more likely than the same happening in Iran and the dangers would be more immediate: there are those nukes to consider if nothing else.

Blogger has for a week made it impossible for me to comment on the site. Re-register after register. Anybody else been having trouble?

Test.

Buddy, after re-registering at the new 'google blog' whatever it is, using the exact same info as the old, no problems.

NTAC's, but I have made some amends and having missed it here, I am back. My apologies to all for a certain moment of irrationality.

As too the post. You make a good point Chuck. I probably agree with it for the most part. If the Sunnis can't get their power back elsewhere they have a more than reasonable chance of doing so in Pakistan.

As to contingency plans, I would hope not to see them on the net, or elsewhere. But I do hope they are in place, as I'm sure they are. Perhaps more important is what do they consist of? Appeasement or... The world walks a fine line.
