Yes, research into the root causes of the French disturbances continues. The apparent culprit? Hip hop.

Last week, 200 politicians backed a petition by MP Fran├žois Grosdidier calling for legal action against several hip hop musicians for their aggressive lyrics.

It's doubly convenient: blame the usual suspects (i.e., "Anglo-Saxon" or American pop culture) and ignore the real and very disturbing prospects on the horizon. What's not to like?

It’s all Elvis Presley’s fault. He entered the U.S. Army in 1957 and spent time in Germany. The country has not been the same since.
