Another Clinton cover up.

Bill is the gift that just keeps giving.

My friends here at Flares have made mention of a little known scandal involving the use of the IRS by certain Clinton administration officials. It seems this information came to light during the Cisneros investigation.

Over at powerline there is another story about the scandal and the attempts of high level Democrats to cover up.

But I am proud to say I read about it here first.

Since some people may not bother to follow a series of links, I'm linking directly to the final article by Tony Snow, which is well worth your time.

The Dems will take to the streets over the idea that somebody in the gubmint might be able to look at somebody's library records but aren't the least bothered by one of their own subverting the IRS and poking the gubmint's nose into citizens' financial records.

On the surface that seems odd and inconsistent, but it isn't at all. The Left (and the Dems ARE the Left rather than "liberals" anymore) always view all matters of economy, including personal finances, as belonging to the government.

If it were possible to make a short list of the defining attributes of the left - say 3 or 5 items - I'm pretty sure that "believe the economy, including all personal income, is the property of the State" would be on the list.

And in the end "the State" will be whatever Napoleon "L'etat, c'est moi" Bonapartist has managed to shoot and scheme his way to the throne.

I read both pieces. If the "Barrett report is a bombshell, capable possibly of wiping out Hillary Rodham Clinton's presidential prospects" then why would John Kerry who obviously still hopes to be president one day move to quash it? Makes no sense.

Because "(a)t the very least, it would bring to public attention a scandal that would make the Valerie Plame affair vanish into comical insignificance" ???

Kerry would suppress this because the Democrats are running on a "Bush lied" platform, besides Hillary has probably got his files.

Why wouldn't Hillary's Dem opponents want this scandal to gain traction?

Well, as PeterUK pointed out

Hillary has probably got his files.

No doubt. More importantly, however, the Dems don't view this as scandalous. They view this sort of thing as the proper use of political power. They want nothing other than power and they want the full use of all the knobs, levers, and contents of all the toolkits. The Democratic party is corrupt, including criminality, beyond redemption. The Democratic Party can't die soon enough to suit me. I wish we coulda strapped it to the gurney with Tookie.

Dueling scandals didn't help Newt Gingrich or Bob Livingston keep their jobs. "it would bring to public attention a scandal that would make the Valerie Plame affair vanish into comical insignificance" sounds more like wishful thinking on Snow's part. Whatever this is, and it sounds as out there as Bill Clinton dealing cocaine from the governor's office and having people murdered, it isn't going to make Fitzgerald go away.

Peety
Kerry would have a real uphill climb
to get the nomination again and one of those hills he'd have to climb over would be Hillary. There's no reason to believe he'd volunteer to help keep her rep squeeky clean especially if there's a chance he'd tarnish his in the process.

You are flirting with deletion again.

The post is a discussion of how Democratic officials are covering up a report on Democratic crimes.

Do you have anything to say about that? Do you approve of their actions?

markg8 said...

flenser despite Snow's breathless innuendo I've yet to see any evidence of Dems covering up Dem crimes here. If you want to talk about that you'd be better off discussing how not one Dem rep made an ethics complaint against Randy Cunningham. Pelosi evidently believes the Ethics Committee truce should hold no matter what. Why?

"I've yet to see any evidence of Dems covering up Dem crimes here."

This is not an original observation, but you are really not the sharpest knife in the drawer. You have just read of the efforts of Congressional Democrats to make sure the results of an investigation never see the light of day, and you respond by seeing no evidence of a coverup?

If there is nothing to cover up, why won't the Democrats let the report come out?

Flenser,Stop confusing Markg8 with facts.

You are presuming I believe what Tony Snow or this Special Presecutor has to say.

Peter UK said...

Simple, really,if it isn't true why are the Democrats killing the report?
