AP/Reuters Watch 6/19

A Flares feature which takes the Associated Press declaration in its

STATEMENT OF NEWS VALUES AND PRINCIPLES:

"we abhor inaccuracies, carelessness, bias or distortions"

to heart and offers a helping hand by pointing out egregious examples of abhorrent practice as they occur.

Day after day after day.

Examples found and posted in comments will be placed in the main post with credit.

All Flares contributors are invited to edit and/or update AP/Reuters Watch posts.

NOTE: Stories at AP and Reuters are updated throughout the day. Some of their updates may obviate criticism made here.

Elliot Spagat has a tough time enunciating the proximate reason that of Immigration Sweep Brings Fear to Community". La Migra has always induced fear among a certain group. I doubt that illegal aliens will ever break into broad smiles upon seeing Immigration Officers.

Might this story by Joseph B. Frazier concerning a registration drive targeting Hispanics be linked in some mysterious way to the story above?

"A 20-year old man goes on MySpace.com and talks a 16-year old girl into running away from home to meet him. The usual media treatment of stories like this is to portray the man as a sexual predator, and rightly so.

But because in this case the predator is a Palestinian, the Associated Press allows their Palestinian propagandist Mohammed Daraghmeh to file one of the most outrageous puff pieces you’ll ever read: Palestinian anguishes over MySpace romance."

I saw a story on Fox as well about this. It seems the goal is a million registered Hispanic voters by fall.

Hardliners need to think about this.
