The Delaware Supreme Court has ruled that an Internet service provider need not disclose the identity of an anonymous blogger who targeted a local elected official.
Chief Justice Myron Steele described the Internet as a "unique democratizing medium unlike anything that has come before," and said anonymous speech in blogs and chat rooms in some instances can become the modern equivalent of political pamphleteering.
Now if we could just preclude the EU from controlling our free speech....

This to me is a really important victory--recall the Chinese government tactic of bludgeoning Yahoo into producing the name of a critic--
This is only one state, but it is a significant victory in favor of the first amendment.
The overall ruling seems good. I would hope that bloogers, in general, refrain from the sorts of vulgarity Mr. Doe #1 allegedly employed. Geesh, I get hammered for petty lookism commentary!
