The FDNY rushed to W 43rd St. this afternoon, hurrying to place safety nets at the base of the
New York Times Building in order to protect passersby from Times staffers distraught over receiving pink slips. After discussion with former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani, the nets were removed and blockades were placed to prevent access to the sidewalks by pedestrians. Former Mayor Giuliani cited concerns relating to potential liability issues arising from Times staffers who might survive a landing on the nets as the reason for the removal. Current NYC Mayor Bloomberg could not be reached for comment.

They promised this would not impact the quality of the paper's journalism.
Nice of him to let the those on their way out, and those remaining behind, that the captain will continue grinding the ship into the iceberg.
All I can say is, faster please.
