Have you ever considered the power of the first post? The one that sets the tone for everything else? In a short while it becomes impossible to undo what was already done with the first one.
I almost started it off with a political post. But I don't want this to be a political blog (although politics is perfectly acceptable). And I don't want to set the whole tone. It's a group blog, for goodness' sake! A huge one at that. So, I'm leaving it neutral, passing the baton.
I herewith dedicate our new group blog. Post away!
