I Need a Scholarship

And you thought Underwater Basket Weaving 101 was bad? Via An Englishman's Castle comes a link to a Whilshire College class entitled Appreciating Scottish Malt Whiskies.

Hmmmm... this needs to be taught? I thought that's what fraternities were for.

The class is open to anyone over 18 years of age and promises to impart "
knowledge of the subject, how to identify the different malts and introduce new flavours." It is not clear if home work is required, but hilariously enough this class appears to be a prerequisite for the follow up class, "Whisky and Cheese Complement Each Other" In addition, additional tutored classes in wine tasting are available.

They don't mention if job placement services are provided by the college.

From Whiltshire's "general information" page, we get the explanation for how they can afford studying the malts (and how students will manage to stagger back to their dorm rooms):

Over the last three years, we have invested over £5 million pounds in the improvement of our learning and training facilities and are firmly committed to supporting you every step of the way.

And the savvy they show in developing their curriculum:

Why not come and see why 9 out of 10 students would recommend Wiltshire College to a friend!

No doubt!
