Another Vile Attempt to Throw a Republican into Jail?

The Drudgereport is citing a New York Times’ developing story:

“NYT: PUBLIC BROADCASTING HEAD IS SAID TO BE UNDER INVESTIGATION FOR MISUSE OF FUNDS
Fri Nov 04 2005 21:08:02 ET

Kenneth Tomlinson, the head of the federal agency that oversees most government broadcasts to foreign countries, including the Voice of America and Radio Free Europe, is the subject of an inquiry into accusations of misuse of federal money and the use of phantom or unqualified employees, the NY TIMES is set to report on Page Ones Saturday.

"People involved in the inquiry said that investigators had interviewed a number of officials at the agency and that, if the accusations were substantiated, they could involve criminal violations," the paper claims.”

Never forget that if a prosecutor is willing to invest sufficient time and resources---virtually nobody is safe from an indictment. A traffic cop can always ticket somebody for going 55 1/8 miles per hour in a 55 mile zone. I strongly suspect that Kenneth Tomlinson is a victim of unjust persecution. Tomorrow it may be one of us. The leftists are apparently trying to put anyone into jail who dares oppose them.

This poor guy has been on the hotseat for a while. It sounds as if he did not keep the appropriate number of board members on his side before he took politically sensitive "executive action".

This is like Nixon and Reagan with Democratic Congresses (Results: Watergate and Iran Contra) and Clinton with a Republican Congress (Result: Impeachment).

Lesson: The CEO is only powerful so long as his "power source" is secure.

Maybe he should have asked Mary Francis Berry (civil Rights Commission) for tips--as I recall she regularly misused funds, staff, and never filed any accounting ..PHEH

Wonder if the statute of limitations has run on MFB?

Probably not, but I don't think they ever prosecuted her. Probably they were just happy they didn't have to use the giant crane to get her out of the building. (Did you see her at their CNN televised playhouse hearings on the 2004 election--eliciting hearsay, gratuitously insulting Fla state officials? It was like watching a Stalinst shoe trial.)

As one who was thrown out of VOA nine years ago for being politically incorrect, I can assure you this is what is happening.

How dare Tomlinson tamper with their PC sinecures?

Anonymous 12:03,

Isn't that a little strange? Isn't the VOA supposed to be the propaganda arm of the US? Is it appropriate for it to be filled with anti-American lefties?

I have a thought...let's just force PBS and NPR to fend for themselves like most everybody else and then we won't have to worry about misuse of public funds because there won't be any funds to misuse.

It is becoming a pattern..if you can't beat them, indict them.

You know what they say, what goes around comes around. Speaking of which has anyone heard anything about Schumer's aide breaking the law lately? Is that completely buried?
