Some economic illiterates cannot understand why foreigners allegedly bankroll our deficits. The reason is very simple. The United States is the world preeminent economic, political, and military power. We are the safest investment on this planet. No other nation is anywhere near as secure. France’s downward spiral cannot be reversed. It is utterly incapable of dealing with its unassimilated Islamic youths. If nothing else, the French socialist economy will never generate sufficient employment opportunities. Even France’s young and well educated citizens are pessimistic concerning their futures. What are they therefore likely to do? The odds are overwhelming that they will emigrate to greener pastures---like our own country. Isn’t it ironic that those who regularly ridicule the “reactionary” United States will likely soon want to become our neighbors? Will the last person leaving France please turn off the lights?

They might go to Quebec.
And they are likely to bring their failed social ideas with them. I am not sure it is quite the bargain it sounds like.
I can't recall the figures, but the number of wealthy French citizens who have switched to Swiss and other citizenship is already astounding. C
There must be room for a new Vichy France somewhere.
C,
They switch citizenship and do their banking in Switzerland and Monaco but they are not at all famous for start ups or venture capitalism. They make their dough through regulatory mercantilism - not capitalism.
I don't believe I've ever run accross a sharp young Frenchman who has shown interest in market capitalism as a means by which wealth might be gained. I'm sure they exist but they're a little thin on the ground.

Oh yes, the French who emigrate to the United States are unfortunately likely to join the Democratic Party. Many of them embrace silly “third way” economic nostrums. Perhaps our near future French immigrants will open up some nice restaurants. My prediction, however, is not limited to the citizens of France. I also suspect that Islamic extremism will prompt many people throughout the world to emigrate to our shores.
They still have Johnny Depp.

Please, no, not that! You won't like our beaches, the weather sucks, can't get a decent baquette, the croissants are made from twisted hard-roll dough, the coffee is watery, we have wines from South American, Australia and (urp!) California! (even New York, New Jersey and CANADA)... this is a place for malcontents not sophisticated critics of culture and cuisine. There is a reason we have never had waves of French immigrants and it is undoubtedly a good an unassailable one. Whatever it is, use it - go somewhere else.
