Maliki makes note of the fact that the UN mandate requires the Coalition stay in Iraq until the Iraqis can maintain security themselves. Doesn't this kind of complicate the whole withdrawal scenario the Democratic leadership has been promising? I think they have gotten a bit ahead of themselves, last time I looked George W. Bush is still president and Commander in Chief. Maybe they should stick to making promises they can actually keep. But would they keep this promise in any event? When Murtha's suggestion that the United States cut and run was put to a vote, it managed a something like 3 out of 435. Now they say they will push to begin troop withdrawals in about 6 months. Just what does push mean?
Maliki also has plans for a shake up in his cabinet. That might be a good idea if the right people get shook.

Actually, I'd like to see Maliki have to deal a little more directly with the American people who are ponying up money for Iraq, so he can find out what democracy is.
He'd better hurry then, Barry. Sadr's Protector has just about run out his string - a simple no confidence vote and his coalition of miscreants will be on the street. This "shake up" (actually an attempt to consolidate power) may do the trick. If it does, good riddance.
Rick,
Are there signs this is about to happen? Maybe he could get his own talk show on Air America....ooops...too late for that too.
