Ralph Peters column made me wonder if we shouldn't come down on the side of the rioters. Are we not in the business of bringing liberty to oppressed Muslims? Do we not need to compete with the Islamists for hearts and minds? Is France not a disgusting cesspool of bigotry and anti-American sentiment? Should we not continue to wrong foot the left and leave them cheering for yet another foul tyranny? We need to pick sides. Viva les beures.

I don't know, but I have a hard time getting too sympathetic for drug dealers and pimps sitting fire to people in wheel chairs and beating old men to death.
yeah yeah Yeah, I know a lot of the rioters are just poor kids without jobs. But I would think teenagers should be in school, not rioting because they can't get a factory job.
I do feel bad for their lack of oppurtunity, but they live in Europe. Goes with the territory.
Terrye,
But not all the 3 million youths are out on the streets and involved in drug dealing. We need to champion the oppressed while helping remove the scum.
OK, it isn't our job. But you can see where I am coming from. If Eurabia is the European future we need to start contemplating the nature of our relations.

Of course I see where you are coming from. When the Frecnh fought the Algerians they killed thousands and left thousands more homeless. They left the same mess there that they left in Viet Nam and Cambodia.
But not all of the people who are being victimized are the eltie French either.
People are afraid to go outside and the outlaws who sell drugs and women and little boys are able to operate just fine in that world. It never ceases to amaze me how they can burn down churches and temples and liquor stores, but dope is ok fine.
"I've chosen my side and have long counted France as being on the "other side"."
Typical American chauvinism, simplisme raised to the 10th power and lacking even a mote of nuance.
I'm right with you. Knuck. I know that France is descending into anarchy with a possibility that a civil war will erupt and cause the downfall of the current government as well as rocking the foundations of the EU. There must be a downside to this but I just haven't found it.
Blair should declare a state of emergency and invite UN troops into France.
UN go home!
UN go home!
Ah, the sweet sounds of protest.
one does wonder
what thoughts are running
thru Blair's head at the moment.
