The title of this post is the subtitle of Claudia Rosett's article at NRO, Rage Against the Western Machine (ht: Roger's Place ). Ms. Rosett is always worth reading and she is in fine fettle today.
Next is an article at RCP by Tom Bevan, Still Waiting For Moderate Muslims..... Tom takes up the question of the "moderate moslems" that was a topic of dicussion at Roger's Place yesterday. Where are they, indeed. Come out, come out, wherever you are!
The third, also at RCP, is Tony Blakley's Cartoons, But Not the Funnies. Tony gives us a tour de force. He opens by relating an interesting "parable" told by Vaclev Havel that yields:
...the display of the sign "workers of the world, unite" allows the green grocer "to conceal from himself the low foundations of his obedience, at the same time concealing the low foundations of power."then gives us Dietrich Bonhoeffer's,
The failure of the people to speak small truths leads to the victory of the big lie.
goes on to quote Hirsi Ali and finally ends with:
As Winston Churchill watched the British government sleepwalk to disaster in the 1930s he would sometimes recite:
"Who is in charge of the clattering train? The axles creak and couplings strain, And the pace is hot, and the points are near, And sleep has deadened the driver's ear; And the signals flash through the night in vain, For Death is in charge of the clattering train."

My favorite 'small-quote' Churchill, re Chamberlain:
"His choice was war or dishonor; he chose dishonor, and got war."
Sounds like Blakley is on the right track. The quotes all speak to our unwillingness to look at the hard and nasty trials people face as part of the cosmic reality - a reality that makes great demands on our faith, such as the imperative of humility in face of the knowledge of evil - and not the product of outrageous (American-Jew) injustice (workers of the world unite). The unwillingness to live with such knowledge and faith will only insure more and more of us lose what is best in our culture and get Mohammed's Jihad instead.
I think this is just the crazies playing us again.
It reminds me of a bad child throwing a tantrum.
Maybe it is time to tell them to grow up.
I'm with terrye.
Run to Instpundit and see the quote he has up from Amir Taheri (one of my favorites).
Oh, and I'm waiting for CAIR to pipe up about any cartoons printed in the few American papers that have. I don't think they've spoken yet. I think they would be wise not to since we're more and more understanding that it is the more fanatical elements that are complaining so loudly and CAIR doesn't want us to see the association.
CAIR makes outraged statements about things much less offensive. If they haven't spoken out, I find it very strange.
