Cruisin for a Bruisin

Sometimes I do wonder if there is something in the water in the Middle East. How else does one explain such complete insanity?

From Big Lizards :

By "madness," I do not mean the wholly justified Israeli invasion of Gaza -- but rather the mindlessly defiant Palestinian response, where they appear to be ready to immolate their entire world, just to avoid giving up one hostage Jew.

Now, a new group has run pell-mell into the buzzsaw screaming "Allahu akbar": Hezbollah, feeling neglected (and tired of living in this vale of tears), just streamed across the Israeli-Lebanese border and, it appears, abducted two Israeli soldiers. Evidently, they looked upon Gaza and saw that it was good, and said, "Geez, I sure wish I had me one o' them Israeli Defense Force invasions!"

You do have to wonder. I also wonder if Iran and Syria are behind this and if they are trying to up the ante by doing more than just helping to drive up oil prices. Like they say, what goes around comes around.

Read it all.

Well,

The twelfth imam should appear around Aug 22, so I expect Iran is just setting scene so he will have something to do.

Define "insanity". You're just applying your own cultural norms—war is unhealthy for children and other living things—to an alien culture. As they see it, war is good. In fact, it is the purpose of life, sanctioned by God himself. There's nothing insane about it.
