Freedom of the Press?

The Editor-in-Chief of the Daily Illini was fired for publishing the Mohammed cartoons. Google was asked to delete the cache of the cartoons. Google appears to have removed the cache.

No mention of any of this at the Daily Illini.

The apposite Orwell quote is here.

See also on the Telegraph story, this editorial firing: this.

Still, it seems to me the press remains largely free to cower or fight. If they are presently choosing the former it is because they think it is what the greater part of their fearful, western anti-western, or pacifist readers want. Not until we successfully challenge the west's dependence on the coca of contemporary white guilt liberalism will we be truly free again.
