The Washington Post has an interesting article on the surge in military recruitment. It seems the Army Guard is setting records.

I can hear it now:
“Oh my God, our American youngsters have lost all hope of finding a good job. They are now so desperate that many have opted to enter the military. What else can they do when the country is experiencing one of the worst economic catastrophes in the history of the United States? We must do something to keep our kids from dying on behalf of the profits of Halliburton and the major oil companies.”
