WP's Ben Bradlee on Armitage

Monday, March 13, 2006
Drudge reports: Former Washington Post editor Ben Bradlee claims that it was former State Department Deputy Secretary Richard Armitage who was the individual who leaked the identity of CIA official Valerie Plame.

Flares' Rick Ballard reported on Armitage two days ago here.

“leaked the identity of CIA official Valerie Plame.”

The very use of “leak” leaves much to be desired. It connotes someone in a back room discretely releasing top secret information. The reality is that it was common knowledge about Valerie Plame’s place of employment. Richard Armitage (or whomever) most likely blurted out the obvious in a ho-hum manner. It was really no big deal. This was a manufactured scandal to slime the Bush administration.
