Dem Congressman Increases Net Worth by $11 Million?

Rep. Alan Mollohan (D - W.Va.) showed an increase in his net worth of up to $11 million in four years while serving on the Appropriations Committee, according to the Wall Street Journal (subscription required). His congressional salary is $165,200 per year.

The Charleston Daily Mail cites the WSJ story noting that Mollohan steered $178 million in appropriations to nonprofits in his district over the last five years, including $76 million to a foundation established by Mollohan and $28 million to a foundation headed by a former staff member. The newspaper contrasts that with a local steel company that lost 12,000 employees in the last few years.

Anyone read about this in the MSM?

Hat tip to Rich Galen.

UPDATE: I forgot to mention that Mollohan is the Dem's top man on... the ETHICS committee.

And the Washington Prowler also weighs in on this story in the American Spectator.
