Giant worms destroying ancient rice terraces. These creatures were driven to their rampaging invasion of the rice paddies by the destruction of their natural habitat. Or so it is claimed. I don't see why they should have stayed in the forests when the paddies beckoned during all those centuries. More likely they are the result of ungodly experiments conducted by the Abu Sayyaf guerillas in their quest for more effective weapons of terror.

All specimens found so far are female - they reproduce rapidly without the intervention of a male... and may be a species previously unknown to science. But their effects are brutally clear.

Yeesh! NOW's gonna love this. Well, they can't be patriarchal so they'll probably die out in a couple thousand generations.
