What should be our National Lizard?

While reading Left Coast Rebel I discovered that there is a move afoot in the Senate to declare the bison as our National Mammal. We already have a National Bird in the Bald Eagle. That got me wondering, what should be our National Lizard? So, time for another Flares Poll of International Opinion...

Gila monster: these venomous lizards are an icon of the American West. Unlike the other non-smiling lizards in this poll, they're sluggish, so they pose little danger.

Harry Reid: Senate leader who never met a budget he couldn't ignore or a Republican bill he couldn't table.

John Edwards: far from 'Husband of the Year'  material, Edwards went from being an oily ambulance chaser, to a VP candidate, to a walking scandal thanks to his affair with Rielle Hunter. 

Dick Cheney: I suppose, to be fair, I should give our liberal visitors a choice too.

After all, as a well respected internet journalist I would obviously never stoop to such shenanigans.

UPDATE: Goodbye rattlesnake, hellooooo gila monster. Fortunately, this being a Flares poll after all, nobody has voted yet so the switch will have no effect on votes already cast.

First Flares Poll of International Opinion results

The first two Flares Polls of International Opinion results are in. The first poll to close was The Robotolizer's entry: Which is the best killer robot army - Cylons, Ro-Men or Terminators? 

The Terminators won hands down, gathering 95 votes for 67% of the total. Comfortably in second place were the Cylons with 34 (24%) votes while bringing up the rear, after barely putting up a fight, were the ever comical Ro-Men with a measly 12 (8%) votes.

The second poll to close, and the first Flares Poll of International Opinion to ever be held, was Who is the better Agent 99 Barbara Feldon or Anne Hathaway? In that post Ms Feldon easily won the poll with 209 (79%) votes to Anne Hathaway's 55 (20%) votes.

So, congratulations to the Terminators and Barbara Feldon for their convincing victories. A hearty handshake and a "job well done" to the winners.

Greetings meat sacks. It is I, the Robotolizer, and I say it is well past time for another Flares Poll of International Opinion. However, I assure you, unlike ambisinistral's rather boring poll topics this one will be of utmost interest since it concerns a subject of vital importance and endless fascination -- robots.

Cylons, Ro-Men or Terminators?

Cylons: killer robots who stage a surprise attack against humanity and then pursue the few survivors across across the galaxy to try to finish the task.

Ro-Men: they may look silly, but as documented in Robot Monster, possibly the finest film ever made by Hollywood, a single Ro-Man all but obliterates mankind.

Terminators: the models they send back in time are bunglers, but the future versions which are under the umbrella of Skynet manage to take over the Earth in short order.

Man, talk about a plan not surviving contact with the enemy. Well, now that we've seen a couple of weeks of Obama's war leadership, and with poor Anne Hathaway getting crushed by Barbara Feldon in our first poll, it is time for the Second Flares Poll of International Opinion:

The first Flares Poll of International Opinion

In a comment thread below OMMAG of the blog One More Middle Aged Guy was wondering why there was not more discussion of Agent 99 from Get Smart. I was wondering the same thing. 

So, in spite of the apparent utter lack of interest in the topic, I -- perhaps unwisely -- decided to make it the topic of the first Flares Poll of International Opinion. I'll confess that my greatest fear is that a lack of votes will vividly demonstrate just how anemic the traffic to this blog is. So, vote early and vote often to spare me the shame.
