What Obama Said

The real problem with what Obama said is that it’s basically untrue. In southwestern Pennsylvania, religion, hunting, and insularity predate the post-industrial era. They’ve have become politically manipulable points in part because of economic decline, but to confuse wedge issues with traditional values is the mark of the high-minded reformer or the political junkie, or both. It’s the kind of mistake one could make only from a great distance, once those voters had become almost entirely abstract—and, again, no one wants to be an abstraction.

This expresses it well. The Democratic mindset that people only hunt or go to church because they are poor is both astonishingly fatuous and rather nauseating. At heart it is a Marxist-style belief that the only thing that matters in the world is money and that everything follows from money. That belief is not unique to Marxists—it seems to be commonly held in Boca Raton and Marin County—but it is in reality puerile and anti-intellectual. Where such spiritually empty money-grubbing disguised as concern for the poor leads can be seen starkly in the case of America's Taliban.

“You’re just clinging to gay rights because you’re frustrated by the size of government. Once we cut entitlements, you won’t care about same-sex marriage.” Genius. This political season is starting to feel like cabin fever to me. I just want to get away from these candidates and out into the fresh air. American Taliban comments aside, this is indeed how idiot liberals think. It is important to note, however, that American liberals do not have a monopoly on petty characterizing, stupidity, or snide hatred of a number of their fellow citizens.

Right, but this wasn't a rant against liberals or hateful people. It was a rant against an overly materialistic view of the world, disguised as something else.

I agree about the cabin fever.

I'm am agnostic, and even I was aghast at the notion that a spiritual person's commitment to their religion goes up and down with the prime rate. That notion is nothing more than disrespecting another person's center.

It is equivalent to a religious person thinking I can't have morality because I trod a different path. It is something that does not speak to tolerance and inclusion, as Obama so loudy claims he does.

Another Democratic delegate arrested - the woman arrested for the hoax call to police on the Texas polygamy compound is an Obama delegate

Rozita Swinton, the woman arrested for falsely tipping off the police that she was an abused child bride at the FLDS polygamy cult in Texas, is a pledged Barack Obama delegate. It was her initial false report that started the investigation which has led to the removal of 400 children from their parents' custody. Swinton has a history of filing false police reports, according to this account. The Jawa Report has more.
