Thank you Daddy
I may be getting up there but I still love my Daddy, I will always be his little girl, even when I am an old woman. He is and always will be my hero. When I was a child I was sure that my Dad was Superman. I looked high and low for that costume with the big S on the front of it. I would not give up. One day when a neighbor girl came over I told her my father's real identity. She did not believe me. So I went to the garage and I found a piece of steel. I took it to my Daddy and begged him to bend it. He did just that. Amazed, my little friend stared in disbelief at the bent pipe, I just looked at her and said "Told you so".
I remember Daddy's hands
Folded silently in prayer
And reaching out to hold me
When I had a nightmare
You could read quite a story
In the callouses and lines
Years of work and worry
Had left their mark behind
I remember Daddy's hands
How they held my Mama tight
And patted my back
For something done right
There are things I've forgotten
That I loved about the man
But I'll always remember
The love in Daddy's hands
Daddys's hands
Were soft and kind when I was cryin'
Daddy's hands
Were hard as steel when I'd done wrong
Daddy's hands
Weren't always gentle but I'd come to understand
There was always love in Daddy's hands

That was really sweet, Terrye. You probably were the apple of his eye.
buddy:
I think a lot of folks feel like this about their Dads and far too often their Dads don't even know it.
So if the old man is still around, give him a call.
Wish I could, wish I could. Too late, gone to where the Great Spirit abides.
My Dad has been gone for many years, but I still miss him.
terrye - even though you wrote that about your dad and not the rest of us, i still feel moved to thank you sincerely for your lovely post.
