The Right Coast: Those darn liberal academics Tom Smith: "But the most painful thing about being a conservative in the academy is not being discriminated against, but the sheer, awful tedium of having to listen to the cant that passes for reasoning where PC-ness has taken over. If you are a pointy-head, having your intelligence insulted is one of the worst insults of all."

What's worse is the pervasiveness of Leftist idealism. Even if you don't have people making comments or anything of the sort, you still have to deal with the egalitarianist attitude that puts the students in a position where they don't have to talk to the professor, but can complain to any higher-up they want, meaning your ability to teach is undermined. That, at least, was my experience at my last job.
You're preachin' to the choir here ... my last time teaching at university, I spent an unbelievable amount of time dealing with, eg, the "accessibility" person who insisted that I fingure out a way to teach my computer science classes without writing or drawing on the board, because I had a blind --- er, seeing-impared --- student.
Who had a full-time assistance there to help translate, but it wasn't enough.
